"Facility Fees" are never charged at Bone & Joint Surgery

Called "provider-based billing," hospitals that own physician practices and outpatient clinics that meet certain federal requirements are allowed to bill separately for “facility fees” as well as for physician services. These fees, which can add hundreds of dollars per visit, are often not covered by insurance plans or may be applied to a plan's hospital deductible, which can be thousands of dollars higher than a physician deductible.
